Exposure to asbestos, I think I might be developing mesothelioma

by David

When I was younger the job I had in construction exposed me and my co-workers to asbestos. Over the years some of my retired co-workers have gotten sick with mesothelioma. Up until this point I just assumed I got lucky because I was completely healthy. Now though things are starting to go down hill quickly and I'm worried about the medical bills for mesothelioma testing.

I guess I need to look for a lawyer too but the thought of the doctors and lawyers is making me hesitant. I don't want to lose all my money before I even know how to handle all of this. How should I get started?

David,

First of all, if your health is quickly deteriorating you need to seek medical attention immediately. If you are just now starting to feel the effects, that means you have up to two years to file a lawsuit so don't worry about lawyers right now.

Your health comes first and that starts with getting medical attention and letting them know you have been exposed to asbestos. Do a search online for the department in your state that handles asbestos mesothelioma claims and workers compensation.

They will be able to point you in the right direction and give you the steps that you need to take. It is possible depending on which state you live in, that there could be immediate assistance to help you with any expenses you have with hospitals and doctors.
