I Wrecked My Friend's Car, Will I Get Sued?
by Denise
Recently I was running late for work and didn't have time for public transportation. My friend let me use his car and I guess since I was in a rush I let my guard down while I was driving and lost focus. This is the first time I've been in an auto accident.
My friend and I are worried because I was the one at fault and the lady whose car I hit is super pissed. I gave her my insurance and my friend gave her his insurance also. But she mentioned that we may have to go to court so she can have her justice.
So far my insurance company is saying it's not their problem since it wasn't my car. He's still talking to his insurance company, waiting for their decision on if it will be covered.
Does anyone know how this works? I'm worried about getting sued over this. What's the point of having insurance if they don't help you out when you need them!?
Possible Answer: Denise, unfortunately you and your friend are going to have to closely read both of your insurance policies. You also need to have your friend really try hard every day to get his insurance people on the phone every day.
Sometimes insurance companies will sweep you under the rug and deny your claim if they get the sense that you do not understand the coverage process. If all else fails try contacting the lady who was hit and see if something can be worked out so you don't have to get sued. Good luck
